I have always loved Rayban Sunnies, particularly the original wayfarers. Yeah, I know that they are particularly popular, 'trendy' and insanely replicated on every street corner but it's a shape that I think suits almost everybody and pretty much timeless too.
They have always been a familiar brand as my dad has always owned the Rayban Aviators. Ever since I was young, I thought they looked like the coolest things ever and in the eyes of a child they made him seem even more of a Superdad! Especially after watching things like Top Gun.
Everyone has their own unique style that they go for, check out these lovely ladies in their choice of shades!

The wayfarer style is probably the most copied style ever with knock-offs found at every market, no matter where in the world you are. Hailey found a pair in Vietnam which are pretty much identical to the real thing. Speaking of Raybans, at a recent press event, Next were ever so kind to gift me these Clubmaster look-a-like sunglasses and silk scarf. I am totally in love with the floral print and it's retro vibes.
no sunnies for me. i have one olive green wayfarer look alike pair, but i never wear them because i have never been able to wear contacts and i just can't see with out my glasses so i cant really use sunnies :( oh well! maybe one day i will learn how to wear contact lenses.

ReplyDeleteMy mum bought a pair of rayban wayfarers in the 80's but they are teeny tiny! they're so small and it is so strange! (maybe people had pin heads in the 80s! ho ho!) Well, i'm itching to get my hands on a classic pair. But i'm blind as a bat and i hate wearing contacts so wearing sunnies is always an issue. I've been meaning to ask the magical optical peeps how much special lenses are! Oh, how i envy those with 20/20 vision. x
ReplyDeleteyou look so cute in those floral clubmasters! I agree, wayfarers suit most faces well, and I think clubmasters do too. I wouldn't say I have an ever growing collection, in fact all my sunglasses (4) were gifts so I guess I don't really care about them. In fact I'd say I only wear them while traveling, because I feel a little weird wearing sunnies just for my short bus ride to/from school XD

Aww! The Next sunnies! I thought I wouldn't like them, but I totally love them! I tend to stick with aviators, mostly, I think that they are the one style that seems to look good on everyone.
ReplyDeleteOoo they're so cute, I actually don't have that many pairs of sunnies but I do have 2 pairs of Chanel ones so I think that makes up for it!
ReplyDeleteMy other pairs are bat shaped and heart shaped, I always buy a cheap pair to wear before I go on holiday because I know I'll probably lose them in some bizarre way like them being stolen by monkeys or falling into a pond of 1000 frogs... yeah I know I think that's another reason why I don't have as many pairs as I should LOL!
I think the only pair of sunglasses I own are a pair of heart shaped ones! I really should buy some for driving in but I never really use them.

ReplyDeleteI love sunglasses but so many of them make me look like a tool. I wear my mum's Rayban and a huge pair of black Chloe shades that I got as a gift. I wish others ones would look good but I end up looking like a knob. Pah. No fair.

ReplyDeleteThe wayfarer style is undeniably timeless and I think it's the most versatile shape - it fits seamlessly with most styles of dress. However, for me, it's all about the ridiculous owl glasses. Jackie O style :)

ReplyDeleteI love the wayfarer style and I think those black Raybans will always be my favourite's, they're so classic and timeless. At the moment I only have two pairs of sunglasses, but at one time I had several pairs! You can never have too many :D And thanks for the blog comment, the wildflowers were lovely. xxx

I never wear sunglasses, just because I'm blind without my glasses. Even with prescription lenses, I'd have to change to regular glasses when I got indoors. Hassle, hassle, hassle.

Love this post! Especially the part about your dad wearing Ray-ban aviators! My dad has always worn them too and I thought it was the coolest thing ever when I finally got a pair... gold with the green tinted lenses. Still one of my favourite pairs. xx
ReplyDeletei have two rayban pairs . one is a classic aviator which im still in love with. the other are some updated cateye ones that i bought recently. i convinced my bf to buy the wayferer style because they looked cute on him in a tortoise color. i now include those in my stash of sunnies lol
