This week has been a strange one with my mind only on the the Hong Kong protests. With strong family ties to HK, every spare minute has been spent checking for the latest updates. With plenty of friends involved too, I've seen photos of the megaphones they've purchased for the crowds, public talks they'd attended given by professors, happy groups proudly wearing yellow ribbons and others who are doing an amazing job keeping everyone up to date on the latest developments. Most of all, I've admired their fighting spirit and I feel so proud of those who are making a stand for what they believe in despite growing opposition and hostility. It's sad to see the division among HKers and even my own family who hold polarised opinions on the matter. HK will get through this and I hope that it will emerge a better place for all those that live there. I couldn't have predicted how much the situation has affected me as I'm all the way over in the UK and I have felt quite emotional reading updates and watching various videos. There hasn't been much coverage in the UK but check out my Twitter feed for more info, this Youtube video and articles like this.
On a side note, sometimes we need a little cheer and it's about time I featured this Taiyaki bag in a proper post! I'm still obsessed with it and it never fails to bring a smile to my face. In the shape of the Japanese fish shaped snack (it's like a fish shaped waffle with a red bean filling) it's most definitely the silliest and happiest bag I own!
I want to eat it!

Also that bag ♥♥♥ I saw the exact same one in a shop in Thailand (and a pancake one) and I'm still kicking myself about not buying it it's so kitchy kawaii I love it xoxo

I think the protests have made a positive impact, guess we'll have to see what happens from here. Ahhh you should have bought the bag! I saw the pancake one too, loved the melting butter....

I really haven't seen much about it from mainstream sources, a college teacher mentioned it a few days ago and other than that I've had to search for hashtags before actually seeing much about it.

DeleteGirl you look so street with that Adidas shirt! But of course that taiyaki bag makes up for that (the one I still have yet to see in person). Yeah I haven't been able to focus on anything else except the protest. It's been a bit crazy and everyone's divided in opinion. And I also feel a bit bad for posting on stuff other than the political climate in HK? Like, who cares about where I ate for lunch when the future of Hong Kong is at the whims of a corrupt government! Ok maybe I'm just being over-dramatic.
