On Monday, I took the day off work to visit the beach with my family and it was awesome. Visits to the coast are few and far between and Bournemouth is a good 3 hour drive from the Midlands and to be fair, finding any beach is a bit of a trek as the Midlands is so landlocked! Bournemouth is a childhood favourite. When I was little, we used to spend long weekends here and day trips in the Summer holidays were a regular thing. We used to dig huge holes with my cousins, build sandcastles and spend hours bobbing in the sea in our rubber rings. Oh the nostalgia! We haven't been back in ages, instead opting for much longer trips back to Hong Kong as a family. Luckily my sisters and I managed to get the day off work/college etc and my family made that oh-so-familiar trip down to the south west of England. It was amazing to spend Monday sitting on the beach and breathing in that salty sea air and just doing nothing at all. It got sunnier as the day went on and we soon ditched our jumpers. We had a good wander up and down the beach, had a bit of a paddle (despite it being a little too cold!), had ice cream, popped into the arcade on the pier and of course finished the day with some good old fashioned fish and chips. Why break tradition eh?

It was lovely to be back at the seaside and I'm so pleased I managed to get a day off! It was incredibly British. Oh when you're back for Xmas you can have fish & chips, pub meals, Xmas dinner and allllll the usual lark. Haha x
That's so close! I would visit all the time if that was the case for me! You should definitely go and visit while the sun is out - though you probably have easy pickings with lots of beaches!
I would have loved to have gone to uni somewhere on the coast. I miss the times when we used to visit often too - but it was nice to be back for the day!
Sounds like a lovely tradition! I miss being able to drive 40 minutes to get to the ocean when I was living in Seattle. Now I'm a few hours away and it's not as easy to go! Glad your family was able to get the day off and enjoy a relaxing time at the beach. Love the photos and the soft colors that bring back the comfort of the beach!

Oh, this sounds like so much fun! I'm not even much of a beach person, but I love going occasionally to soak up the sunshine and fresh air. Fish and chips are definitely essential in my books, too :)

Yes, I love the soft pastel and blues/greens of the sea. Definitely my happy place even though I don't get to see it that often. 40 mins to the Ocean sounds amazing, I'm sure you made the most of it when you were living in Seattle!

It was lovely. I liked that it was a little quieter as it was a Monday and not too packed like it usually is on a weekend. So pleased I went that day, the weather today couldn't have been more different!
We definitely ticked off all the traditional seaside activities! I'm pleased I got the day off and got to sit on the beach. Who knows when we'll get decent weather again?
I wouldn't say that I was a beach person either - I'm certainly not into tanning or really into swimming, but I do like splashing in the sea or just taking a moment to read a book and listening to the ocean. Those are things I absolutely love. There's something so calming about being on a beach :)
Thank you! It's so nice to escape the suburbs and visit the coast. I really must do this more often but I'll be back in Brighton next month so that will be an alternative! Though, pebble beaches aren't quite the same....

That last photo is like that of a postcard! I love the beach. It is by far one of my favorite places to be to get away and it's always guaranteed fun :) Looks like you had an amazing time with your family!
Hehehe you mean like the British? ;) Ah the weather is kind of sweater weather and then t-shirt weather in the afternoon, it's not too bad at the moment. Definitely not as Humid as HK. I feel for you! x
To be honest not a whole lot! It's a relatively quiet and unassuming city. Aside from the beach and exploring the coast line. You can just about spot the Jurassic coast from the beach, so I intend to visit there next time!
Looks like fun! there is nothing better than a trip to the beach on a warm sunny day.
