My trip back to Hong Kong seems like forever ago now but much like my real life motto, there is ALWAYS time for a dessert (post). Dessert shops are open until late and are great places to have a catch up with friends/family during the day or as a place to satisfy that sweet tooth after dinner. These dessert shops sell lots of yummy desserts including traditional tong sui (Chinese sweet soup), glutinous rice balls (tong yuen), Shaved ice, Dofu Fa (Tofu pudding) and Western style sweets like Napoleons. Judging from these photos, I am quite partial to mango and green tea flavoured desserts!

DeleteSweet Almond soup sounds pretty interesting, I find the regular milk quite hard to stomach but I'd like to try. Damn, Muji cafe would be a dream.

Oh wow, this is all looks so extremely appetizing and appealing. A placement in Hong Kong is still high on my list (not just for these deserts though :p) , but I guess my very limited knowledge of mandarin won't get me far. I loooooooove the looks of the Dofu Fa and the items from Muji Cafe and Via Tokyo. I'm a sucker for matcha-like things. Hehe. Wonderful, light pictures too by the way!
ReplyDeleteYou should definitely go to HK! You don't need any Chinese at all really, you'll be fine with English. Though Mandarin wouldn't be that useful as the main language is Cantonese :)
DeleteI just find out about your reply. Thanks! I was thinking Cantonese was more useful indeed, oh well.. I'm still trying, and still looking for things in either Japan and Hong Kong (I'm crazy, I know). It's a good thing I still have a lot of time before I actually go.
DeleteDamn girl you're making me hungry, shaved ice is one of my favourite desserts it's something so simple to but I really miss it, my mum has been making Thai desserts a lot recently one of my favourites is pumpkin and steamed coconut custard it's so good! xoxo

I so love green tea flavours in dessert, I tried green tea ice-cream (with waffles) for the first time earlier this year and now it's one of my favourite flavours, so totally with you on that.XX
